The Kidney Albumin Test is a self-test designed to detect the presence of albumin (protein) in urine, provided by Berkeley Health. It is an easy and quick home test that gives an indication of kidney condition and signals potential kidney problems such as stones and infections. Early detection of diseases increases the likelihood of positive treatment outcomes. Two colored lines: indicates normal concentration (10 µg/mL or less)*. One colored line (reference C): indicates a higher than normal concentration and a doctor's consultation is advised. If you experience any urinary issues, speak to your doctor regardless.

This is a home test to detect the presence of albumin in urine. Albumin, which makes up the majority of plasma proteins, is primarily produced in the liver, accounting for about 2/3 of the 6-8% protein content in plasma. Albumin is responsible for regulating colloid osmotic pressure in the blood, thus playing a crucial role in water exchange between plasma and interstitial space (the space between cells). The presence of albumin in urine may indicate a kidney function disorder and could be a symptom of kidney disease or heart failure.
Test Principle
The urine albumin test identifies proteins in urine and indicates whether the concentration is equal to or exceeds 10 µg/mL. *Levels between 11-20 µg/mL may produce similar negative results. This test is recommended for anyone suspected of having kidney disease or having specific conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or pregnancy.
