Neomercazole (Carbimazole) is used to reduce the production of thyroid hormones in adults and children with hyperthyroidism. It can also be used to restore normal thyroid function before partial surgical removal.

Carbimazole 5mg
Dosage and Administration
- Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Adults: The recommended starting dose is 20-60mg divided into 2-3 doses. Once stabilized, the dose can be reduced to 5-15mg daily.
- Children: The recommended starting dose is 15mg daily, adjusted once the child’s condition stabilizes.
Indications
- Treatment of hyperthyroidism.
- Restoring normal thyroid function before surgery.
Contraindications
- Allergy to the active ingredient or any other component of the medication.
- Severe allergy to other anti-thyroid drugs such as Thiamazole, Methimazole, or Propylthiouracil.
- Blood disorders or severe liver disease.
- History of pancreatitis after taking Carbimazole.
Side Effects
- Rash, itching, tightness in the chest or throat.
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
- Red or peeling skin.
- Muscle pain, liver issues.
Warnings
- If you have liver problems or reduced bone marrow activity.
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
- Consult your doctor before taking any other medications with Carbimazole.
Interactions
- Theophylline.
- Anticoagulants like Warfarin.
- Corticosteroids, Erythromycin, Digoxin.
- Beta-blockers for high blood pressure.
Storage
Store at room temperature below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
