Kapron Tranexamic Acid 500mg 

Kapron is an antifibrinolytic medication used to reduce or prevent excessive bleeding. It contains tranexamic acid and is used in situations such as surgery, heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, and dental procedures.

Indications

• Prevention and control of bleeding during or after surgery.
• Treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia).
• Nosebleeds, gum bleeding, and post-dental extraction bleeding.
• Hemophilia-related bleeding management.
• Internal eye bleeding or hereditary angioedema.
• Post-operative bleeding after prostate, bladder, or uterine surgery.

Mechanism of Action

Kapron contains tranexamic acid, a synthetic lysine analog. It works by inhibiting fibrinolysis – the breakdown of blood clots – by blocking the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, helping stabilize clots and reduce blood loss.

Dosage & Administration

• Dosage is based on the condition and prescribed by a physician.
• Not recommended without medical supervision for severe bleeding episodes.

Side Effects

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
• Dizziness or visual disturbances.
• Rare: Blood clots or severe allergic reactions.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to tranexamic acid.
