Cefuzime 500mg – 10 Tablets
Description: Cefuzime is an antibiotic belonging to the cephalosporin group used to treat various bacterial infections in adults and children. It works by killing bacteria causing the infection. Cefuzime treats throat infections, sinusitis, middle ear infections, lung and chest infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and Lyme disease.
Indications:
- Throat infections.
- Sinus infections.
- Middle ear infections.
- Lung or chest infections.
- Urinary tract infections.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Lyme disease treatment.
Precautions and Contraindications:
- Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or beta-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, monobactams, carbapenems).
- Not recommended for children under 3 months.
- Inform your doctor if you have kidney or intestinal diseases.
- Cefuzime may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives; use additional contraception methods during treatment.
- Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How to Use and Dosage:
- Take after food with plenty of water.
- Swallow tablets whole; do not chew or crush.
- Adults: 250-500 mg twice daily depending on infection severity and type.
- Children: 10-15 mg/kg twice daily (max 125-250 mg) depending on condition.
- Dose adjustments may be necessary for kidney impairment.
Possible Side Effects:
- Dizziness, headache.
- Diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain.
- Fungal infections like Candida.
- Allergic reactions including rash, itching, and rarely severe skin reactions.
- Changes in blood cell counts and liver function tests.
