Description:
Benzaflex is a prescription medication used short-term to treat muscle spasms and related pain. It helps relax muscles to ease discomfort and is usually used along with rest and physical therapy.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Intended for short-term use only (2–3 weeks).
- Avoid if you have hyperthyroidism, severe heart conditions, or arrhythmias.
- Do not use simultaneously or within 14 days of discontinuing antidepressants.
- May cause drowsiness or dizziness — avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Use cautiously in elderly patients and those with liver impairment.
How to Use:
- Adults: 5 mg orally every 8 hours; dose adjustments as advised by your doctor.
- Elderly: Start with 5 mg daily and adjust gradually under medical supervision.
Possible Side Effects:
- Stop use and seek immediate medical attention if swelling of face, lips, throat or breathing difficulty occurs.
- Discontinue use if rash or itching develops.
Drug Interactions:
- Antidepressants such as phenelzine, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine.
- Alzheimer's medications like donepezil and tacrine.
- Other medications and herbal supplements may interact.
Storage:
